My Sister Needed A Heating Pad For Pain Management. This Is How We Found The Right One.

Written by Thelma Ricks

I bought my sister a heating pad recently.

My sister is fighting a difficult condition that leaves her in chronic pain, and the doctors have prescribed her some very heavy pain medication so she can cope with it. But the medication leaves her nauseated and dizzy, and she has to endure all kinds of side effects just to lessen the pain.

So, I logged in to my Amazon.com Prime account to see what I could find to try to help ease her pain even a little bit. After reading reviews and specifications of multiple heating pad products, I chose the one I thought would be the best for her needs.

The first product we researched was the Evajoy Electric Heating Pad for Neck Shoulders Spine Heat Therapy. This heating pad had a lot of the options we were looking for, but it was just too big for my sister.

Next, we read about the Comfier Heating Pad. My sister didn’t like this one because it was too small for her needs. Also, she did not want one with the massage feature; she couldn’t have that because she has a cracked vertebra. So, we moved on to the next option.

That’s when we found the Zcassi XL Electric Heating Pad. This heating pad wraps around the body and fits people of most sizes, and it has 6 heating settings, which was important to me, because my sister can adjust the temperature to get comfort based on her needs. She didn’t have to fight with a flat, sliding heating pad that you have to hang on to and keep moving around, trying to get the heat to stay right on the spot that hurts. This one wraps around your body and will Velcro securely.

I decided that the Zcassi XL Electric Heating Pad was the one I wanted to give her because of the convenience, because of how she could be more mobile with it and not have to worry about having to adjust it all the time. I ordered one and had it sent to her.

This particular heating pad is made of micro plush fabric, and it is machine washable. It has a waterproof power interface and a removable controller. Just follow the instructions to detach the controller and prepare the heating pad BEFORE you wash it.

Please, always read the instructions first.

Because it wrapped around her body, she could leave it on and just unplug it if she needed to move around. When she has to use the bathroom, she just unplugs it, then plugs it back in when she returns to her bed or her chair.

My sister was so excited about that. She was just telling me how much she enjoyed the heating pad because of the convenience, and the changes in temperature according to how she was feeling at the time. She was raving about it.

To be able to put it on and leave it on, and not fight with it like you have to do with one of those little rectangular pads, she said it was just so neat and comfortable.

As a matter of fact, she had me laughing. My sister is a petite woman, and she said, “I had to put a little pillow on the inside because the Velcro wasn’t quite long enough for it to be tight.”

She told me she can leave it wrapped around her body and go sit at her countertop bar in her kitchen and eat breakfast like she used to, and she plugs it in right there at the end of the counter. When it is already heated up, she can even unplug it for a little while and it still retains some heat while she does a chore, or uses the bathroom, or if she decides to change rooms.

She spoke on and on about the convenience of it, about not having to hold on to it as she walked. Recently, she said she was so relaxed that she didn’t even have to use her pain medication that morning. That made me very happy.

You see, too many people get addicted to pain medication, and most of us might have a fear about even taking pain medication at all. But, when you are faced with intense pain, you don’t feel like you have much of a choice. And she was just so excited that she didn’t even need her pain medication that morning. That was something she hadn’t encountered before.

Now, I am not saying you should buy a heating pad and stop taking your medication; you should always follow your doctors’ orders. I just wanted you to know how much it helped my sister, and to share our experience. Your results may vary, and you should always talk to your doctor first if you have any questions or concerns about taking your medication or using a new product.

You may be asking, ‘There are always so many options on Amazon, how do I choose which one is best?’

I always check the product details, the buyer ratings, and the buyer reviews. I want to know what other customers are saying about it and read their experiences. I was also watching the prices, but I really just wanted something that would work best for my sister.

That one had a coupon at the time I bought it; many products have promotional discounts, so make sure you check the information on the product listing to see if you can save money by clicking one of those little coupon boxes, if one is available.

Another good thing about buying on Amazon is that the descriptions are very helpful and accurate. But if you have any problems with the product not matching up to the description, or not working for your needs, Amazon’s refund policy will most likely give you a refund, no questions asked.

They also give you options to choose a reason why you are returning the product, or they provide a blank ‘Other’ option so you can write your own reason for returning it.
